SCOSSIE CUP 2019
Tournament report: With a squad of 06/07 we decided to take on a big challenge in entering a tournament of 06/05 with plenty of high quality players. Displaying an amazing futsal skills our level increased all through the tournament. After a slow start, the boys took it up a gear and displayed amazing team efforts.
*First match was a draw (0-0) against Caledonia futsal, in a tight match with some good futsal shown from both sides.
*Our second match was against a very powerful 'Australian National team A' that played tactically very well, but we got a good result for us (2-0).
Mathematically qualiified we were fighting in the last macch to finish the group stage as first or second.
*Last match of the group we faced a good side futsal Escocia that turned back our initial advantage of 2-0 to 2-2 with both teams going through; Futsal Elite top of the group.
*Semifinals: we faced 'Australian National team B' in a very tight match in the beginning until we scored a couple quick goals that tipped the match in our favour, forcing Australian to open lines and taking risks that cost them some more goals (5-0).
*Final: here we go… we faced again the team that we draw 2-2 in our group stage. In our previous match we had the mistake of not finish the match when we could, but this time we were prepared to do our game, 3-1 at the end and champions !!!
SQUAD:
*Aidan: Goalkeeper; cleaver when was required to start quick, safe when he was tested and powerful in the challenges, Aidan was superb.
*Eseosa: Captain, Pivot/Ala/Cierre: multitask player during the tournament, he played in all the positions required and lead the team as our captain. Sosa, powerful in his challenges was unstoppable.
*Tyreece: Ala/Cierre; perfect match for him, serious, concentrate, motivated, safe… an ideal player.
*Leo: Ala/Pivot; very electric and explosive he put the opponent defence in serious problems every time he had the ball. Very dangerous player in the attacking area.
*Rocco: Cierre; solid like marble, Rocco didn’t give any chance at all to the attacking opposition and joined the attack several times to test the goalies. Perfect match…
*Ethan: Ala/Pivot; skilful and unpredictable player, keep in check all the time to the defenders. Great tournament
*Adam: Pivot/Ala; Solid holding the ball as a pivot and powerful as an Ala, Adam did a great job showing confidence in all his actions. Great tournament
*Ale: Ala/Pivot; being only an 07 was a huge challenge for him. However, his attitude and futsal level was up to the circumstances. Well done wee man!
MOM: The whole TEAM … we lose together, we win together!!!
